Raphael Assuncao moved closer to a future UFC bantamweight title fight by submitting Vaughan Lee Saturday night at UFC on FUEL TV: Nogueira vs. Werdum.
Since entering the UFC’s 135-pound division, Assuncao (19-4) has posted a 4-0 mark. His brother, Junior Assuncao, made sure to mention a possible title fight before his brother was interviewed by Jon Anik.
“All I want is the chance to go for the title,” said Assuncao, through a translator.
The bantamweight division currently has two champions, as Dominick Cruz is injured, as is interim champ Renan Barao.
Assuncao has defeated Lee, Mike Easton, Issei Tamura and Johnny Eduardo since a loss to Erik Koch prompted the move to bantamweight in 2011.
