Here’s a breakdown of the prelim fights for UFC on FUEL TV 10, which will be streamed via Facebook.
Middleweight: Antonio Braga Neto vs. Anthony Smith
The card opens with middleweights Antonio Braga Neto and Anthony Smith. Neto is making the first of three scheduled fights for the UFC. Almost all of his eight wins have come by submission. Smith comes in from Strikeforce. He was 1-1 for them and suffered a submission loss on their January show.
Middleweight: Caio Magalhaes vs. Karlos Vemola
Caio Magalhaes returns to the UFC for the first time in a year. His previous fight was scratched due to injury as he looks to earn a UFC win. Karlos Vemola has been with the UFC for close to three years now. He’s at 2-3 and will come in off a loss.
Featherweight: Rodrigo Damm vs. Mizuto Hirota
One of the two featherweight bouts is up next. Rodrigo Damm took Submission of the Night in his UFC debut last June. That was followed with a split-decision loss to Antonio Carvalho at UFC 154. Mizuto Hirota didn’t have that perfect of a UFC debut. He suffered a decision loss.
Welterweight: Ildemar Alcantara vs. Leandro Silva
Ildemar Alcantara joined the UFC with a ton of wins out of Jungle Fight. He kept that streak alive with a second round win over Wagner Prado. Leandro Silva is undefeated since turning pro in 2008. He’s picked up nine wins since 2011.
Featherweight: Godofredo Pepey vs. Felipe Arantes
Godofredo Pepey joined the UFC in hopes of becoming their inaugural flyweight champion. Since losing in the opening rounds of that tournament, he’s regrouped with a win in January. Felipe Arantes cut to featherweight when he met up with the UFC. He traded wins and losses before a draw. This is Arantes’ third UFC Brazil show.
Middleweight: Ronny Markes vs. Derek Brunson
At 14-1, Ronny Markes is looking to continue his UFC streak. He has won all three of his fights under their banner, with each going to the judges. Derek Brunson took Chris Leben to a decision loss in December. That win, snapped his two fight losing.
Bantamweight: Raphael Assunção vs. Vaughan Lee
Raphael Assunção failed in his UFC debut, and then switched to bantamweight. He’s won all three of those fights, with one stoppage. Vaughan Lee is 2-2, recently winning a decision to Motonobu Tezuka. It will be Lee’s second time inside the Octagon this year.
