Josh Burkman looks to avenge his UFC loss to Jon Fitch from way back in 2006. Fitch enters the rematch not relying on their original meeting, as he considers that training material outdated.
“I fought Burkman so long ago so I don’t even bother looking at that fight,” said Fitch to John Petit of Fighters.com. “If we were talking six months later, or maybe even a year that’s one thing, but once you start crossing the four or five year mark I just don’t see how there is any real value in looking at the fight. That’s a really long gap.”
Fitch used the rear-naked choke to defeat Burkman the first time. That was in his welterweight debut for the promotion. Fitch remained at welterweight until his release earlier in the year.
Burkman has appeared on both WSOF shows, last stopping Aaron Simpson in round one.
They headline the WSOF 3 on June 14. The man card airs on the NBC Sports Network out of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
