With the signature of Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy, MMA will become legalized in the state. It is the 49th state to legalize the sport, making New York the lone place where it’s not permitted.
Bill HB05277 was passed by the state senate earlier in the day. The final vote wasn’t clear.
Connecticut has hosted MMA events in the past, but on Indian reservations.
UFC executive Lorenzo Fertitta tweeted the following about Connecticut’s move, and made it known that New York remains in their sight.
