It was in 2006, when Wes Combs faced his biggest challenge in his UFC debut. Combs took a pair of first round losses to Mike Nickels and Wilson Gouveia within two months. The result was a release and the heavyweight is yet to return.
At 39-years-old, Combs knows he’s running out of time when it comes to a possible UFC return.
“Time is against me and I’m on the backside of the age bracket, but I feel good right now, so the feeling is to strike while the iron is hot,” said Combs on MMA Weekly. “I feel good, so let’s do it.”
Combs is currently 6-1 in his latest run out of Gladiator and KOTC. Three of his last four fights haven’t escaped the opening round.
There is no return news since he stopped Esteves Jones on May 25.
