Dan Henderson still wants his shot at becoming a UFC champion. For now, though, the former Strikeforce and PRIDE champ knows he must re-climb the ladder.
That starts next Saturday night vs. Rashad Evans in the main event of UFC 161: Evans vs. Henderson. During a conference call on Tuesday, “Hendo” discussed missing out on his previous title opportunity.
“A title shot was something that was supposed to happen last year,” said Henderson, who was scheduled to face Jon Jones last summer but a knee injury knocked him out. “I think I have unfinished business (with Jones).”
Henderson rehabbed and took a fight with Lyoto Machida earlier this year, falling via decision.
“I’m focused on this fight,” he said. “(Evans) is tough and I’m focused on him.”
