Cheick Kongo Signs Bellator Contract

It’s been a busy day for Bellator with the signing of former UFC fighters. The latest is heavyweight Cheick Kongo. MMA Weekly confirmed the signing today.

Kongo was a veteran of the UFC, joining in 2006. He earned an 11-6 record under their name.

In April, Kongo completed his UFC contract and opted not to resign. He took a first round knockout loss to Roy Nelson at UFC 159. It’s believed he’ll appear in Season 9, which starts in September.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal also signed with the promotion.
