UFC welterweight No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks is planning on facing – and defeating – Georges St-Pierre twice.
While the two have yet to officially lock in a date for their bout for St-Pierre’s UFC welterweight title, Hendricks is already planning the rematch after he wins.
“I’m gonna have to beat him twice. Unless I knock him out. If I manhandle him for two rounds and I knock him out, then there won’t be a rematch,” said Hendricks, in an interview with MMAWeekly.com. “But if it’s a close fight or I go out and knock him out in the first minute, yeah, (we will have) a rematch.”
Hendricks has reeled off wins over Jon Fitch, Martin Kampmann, Josh Koscheck and Carlos Condit to cement his claim to the title shot. Fitch, Koscheck and Condit have all either been the No. 1 contender or, in Condit’s case, the interim champ.
