Jose Aldo is confident he will successfully defend his featherweight title against Anthony Pettis and with the presence of the Brazilian fans, it only strengthens his assurance.
“I do not see any problem,” said Aldo to TATAME. “I know the crowd will be all in my favor. Everybody says that the challenge will be the biggest. I’m preparing well and always focused on what I want.”
Pettis shocked many when he opted to challenge for the featherweight title after becoming the No. 1 contender in the lightweight division. He cited not wanting to wait for a lightweight title shot and said the featherweight move wasn’t permanent.
Besides remaining champion, Aldo will look to keep his perfect WEC and UFC record intact.
The gold headlines UFC 163 in Aldo’s home country of Brazil. It’s August 3 from the HSBC Arena.
