The UFC said they were looking into changing their marijuana rules and have raised the testing threshold for marijuana metabolites. It went from 50 mL to 150 mL and WADA has said that number is fine. CABMMA, Brazil’s athletic commissioning body, has also agreed.
“When we self-regulate around the world, we are going to go the WADA standard of 150,” said UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner to MMA Junkie. “So we’re starting that immediately.”
Ratner said the goal was to catch those who are fighting under the influence. Several fighters have been caught with the drug in their system, though they hadn’t smoked in days or weeks leading to their fight.
The new rule goes into effect with next week’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 show.
