The former XFC lightweight champion Nick Newell is headed to the World Series of Fighting (WSOF).
WSOF president Ray Sefo and executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz confirmed the signing with MMA Fighting.
There are no details on when Newell will debut for the promotion, but Abdel-Aziz said August or September is likely. No date or venues for those cards have been revealed.
Newell gained attention with his perfect 9-0 record, while missing his left hand. He was stripped of the XFC belt when refusing to extend his contract with them. Newell said several promotions showed interest in him, except the UFC.
