Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos made a statement at UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2, landing a spinning wheel kick that finished Mark Hunt.
Now, dos Santos appears to be on his way to a third encounter with champion Cain Velasquez, as the two have split their previous meetings.
“I feel like I deserve it,” said dos Santos, on the post-fight show on FUEL TV. “I want it so bad. I really believe I can be the champion again and I’m one of the best in the division.”
“Cigano” stated that he was actually quite nervous before returning to the Octagon to face Hunt, adding “I was a little more nervous than usual, but I trained so hard. I got prepared and I spent too much money training, so I had to do my best.”
No date has been set for Velasquez-dos Santos III, but UFC president Dana White said it should take place before the year ends.
