UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has talked at length about making a title defense in Mexico, as his parents were born in the country.
Now, following a successful defense of his belt over Antonio Silva, Velasquez is hoping that his next title fight comes in the south.
“I’d like to see the (Junior dos Santos fight) in Texas or maybe Mexico,” said Velasquez, on the post-fight show on FUEL TV over the weekend.
Velasquez sports a “Brown Pride” tattoo on his chest and carries a Mexican flag with him to the Octagon. He is expected to face dos Santos for a third time coming up later this year.
“I think he fought a good fight (dos Santos’ win over Mark Hunt),” Velasquez said. “It makes sense to fight him next.”
