Daniel Cormier isn’t close to light heavyweight when it comes to pounds, but he would take on the division’s champion Jon Jones at any moment.
“I haven’t started cutting weight yet, but we’ll fight at 220 tomorrow if he wants,” said Cormier during a recent Q&A. “He can walk in off the street and we’ll fight at any weight.”
Cormier currently is a heavyweight, who’s undefeated in his 12 fights. He took the decision against former heavyweight champion Frank Mir in April. It was his debut for the promotion as he entered as the final Strikeforce grand prix winner.
Jones is out for weeks or months, after a nasty break of his big toe at UFC 159. He still managed to defeat Chael Sonnen with the injury.
Neither fighter has an opponent at the moment.
