UFC 160: Junior Dos Santos Vs. Mark Hunt

Junior dos Santos vs. Mark Hunt

The co-main event is here with heavyweight knockout artists Junior dos Santos (15-2) and Mark Hunt (9-7) squaring off. Dos Santos is coming off a loss to Cain Velasquez last year, while Hunt has been on a roll and is seeking a title shot of his own. The referee will be Steve Mazzagatti.

Round 1: Hunt takes the center of the Octagon, throwing a kick to the legs of dos Santos. Big overhand right from JDS connects. Hunt connecting with his left at will, comes in and lands another. Dos Santos, though, answers, dropping Hunt with a right. Hunt is wobbly, but motions for him to bring it. Hunt catches JDS but is unable to land and he escapes. Hunt not getting as close now after that right hand landed, and dos Santos is throwing it more and more. Cut under the right eye of JDS could cause him some vision issues, but he is still able to land his jab. Spinning attack connects for Hunt, and JDS lands his own. Overhand right lands again by dos Santos.

Round 2: Surprisingly, this one made it through the first round, as both men landed big-time shots. We are back to dos Santos on the outside and Hunt controlling the center. Big overhand right just misses for JDS, as Hunt has blood coming out of his ear after the blows. That could cause him some problems going forward. Hunt using his kicks, then coming forward and attacking the body. Another overhand right catches Hunt, as does a quick jab. These two have hit each other with everything for eight minutes, and they are still standing. INCREDIBLE! Hunt misses with an overhand right of his own, catches dos Santos against the fence, and JDS retreats. Hunt breathing heavily and dos Santos scores a takedown. The Vegas crowd boos as soon as he shoots.

Round 3: And, what do you know, we are headed for the third. These two have hit each other with everything but the kitchen sink so far. Can one finish the other? Hunt swinging for the fences, throws a huge left that just misses. Hunt connects with a left hook and JDS bounces off the fence. JDS fakes a takedown and throws the right, but Hunt ducks under. Two minutes to go and Hunt has to know he needs a finish, to which he responds with a big overhand right. Dos Santos lands with a spinning kick and Hunt drops, and this one is all over. Hunt is wobbly, tries to get to his feet, and nearly falls over. Dos Santos leaps out of the Octagon and shakes the hand of Mike Tyson, as he likely just earned himself another title shot.
