Vitor Belfort and his controversial use of TRT have raised plenty of eyebrows. Heavyweight Roy Nelson is not a fan and thinks Belfort shouldn’t be granted a license to fight in Nevada if he uses it.
“He should never get a license in Las Vegas,” said Nelson to Bloody Elbow. “The only way he can is if there’s somebody getting paid off, or whatever. The rules are the rules. It’s just the rules. He’s got to live with that.”
This year, Belfort has two wins out of Brazil where he’s permitted to have TRT in his system during a fight. He finished Michael Bisping in the second round and then used a spinning heel kick early against Luke Rockhold for the other win. It’s possible Belfort won’t be granted a fighter license in the United States with TRT in his body.
Nelson, who is a supporter of VADA drug testing, has three straight round one wins. Since defeating Cheick Kongo at UFC 159 in late April, “Big Country” is slated to meet Stipe Miocic. That happens at UFC 161 on June 15 from the MTS Centre in Canada.
