In February, Dennis Bermudez took a win over Matt Grice and an extra $50,000 for Fight of the Night. It was the second time the featherweight took such an honor. While the extra cash is nice, Bermudez would rather take less punishing bonuses.
“I was talking to my corner and my coach and they said, Fight [of the] Night bonuses are great and all, but it means you got lumped up a little bit,” said Bermudez on MMA Junkie Radio.
Bermudez has no problems with the honor checks, but would prefer Knockout of the Night or Submission of the Night. He owns one submission honor against Tommy Hayden.
“I’m trying to get more on those levels of performances,” said Bermudez.
It’s going to be Bermudez vs. Max Holloway at UFC 160. Bermudez has three wins since May of last year and Holloway has similar results.
They meet on the preliminary end of UFC 160, which is this Saturday, May 25. It comes from Las Vegas, NV’s MGM Grand Garden Arena.
