Former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza doesn’t appear likely to get his wish for his second UFC fight.
Following a recent win over Chris Camozzi, Souza asked to face the winner of Vitor Belfort-Luke Rockhold. Belfort won, and seems on his way to a possible title shot.
Instead, Souza will face Yushin Okami, at least that’s what UFC president Dana White stated Thursday during the UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2 media day event in Las Vegas.
Souza (18-3) submitted Camozzi early in the first round, earning his fourth straight victory. Okami (29-7) has went 13-4 during a long UFC career that includes a championship match vs. Anderson Silva.
MMAjunkie.com first reported news of the pending match. White did say that it is not yet official and no date has been set.
