Jacob Volkmann is one of the latest names to come out against the UFC pay. The lightweight was particularly upset about the health plan.
“They treat the top five percent of the fighters well,” said Volkmann to Above and Beyond MMA. “The healthcare plan is horrible, with a $1,500 deductible per injury – the catastrophic-injury insurance is not even really good insurance. There’s no retirement fund, there’s no signing bonus.”
A few years ago, Volkmann stated he made $45,000 after taxes. The following year, he took $42,000 after taxes.
He returns against Strikeforce veteran Lyle Beerbohm at the World Series of Fighting 3 on June 14 out of Las Vegas, NV.
Volkmann was released following a UFC 156 loss to Bobby Green. He was 6-4 at the time he was given his walking papers.
