Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett is returning to the Octagon, as MMAjunkie.com reported late Tuesday night that the fighter has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.
Barnett (32-6) last fought in Strikeforce in the U.S. and sports a 4-1 record during his previous UFC run. He won the heavyweight title from Randy Couture, but was stripped after failing the post-fight drug test in 2002.
Earlier this year, after Strikeforce closed up shop, Barnett appeared close to signing with the UFC. However, issues in the contract came up and Barnett left the table.
No date for his fight has been set.
