Rory MacDonald has slowly climbed up the welterweight division with friend and Tri-Star teammate Georges St-Pierre by his side. Due to this, MacDonald doesn’t plan on fighting the current UFC welterweight champion.
“We’re not fighting,” said MacDonald on The MMA Hour. “We’ll have our own arrangements and figure it all out when the time comes. It’s not going to come to us fighting. Friends, teammates, you know? We’re here to help each other.”
To closeout 2012, MacDonald defeated BJ Penn. He was to have a rematch with Carlos Condit, the only person to defeat him, before injuring his back and neck. He meets Jake Ellenberger at UFC on FOX 8. It’s July 27 from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA.
St-Pierre has eight title defenses as he awaits Johny Hendricks.
