Koji Oishi makes his debut for ONE FC in a big way. He’s set to challenge Honorio Banario for the newly introduced featherweight championship. When Oishi goes out there, he’s looking to making a lasting impression for more than himself.
“Banario is the current featherweight champion, but I am coming to dethrone him,” said Oishi on MMA Weekly. “I want to claim that belt and prove that our team Pancraseism is the best team in Asia. I am proud to fight for my team and I want to give my fans something to cheer about.”
Oishi has spent a majority of his career for Pancrase, where almost all of his fights have gone to the decision. He’ll enter the top Asian MMA promotion at 23-9.
Banario’s three years in the sport has led him to an 8-1 record. He’s won his last two for ONE FC, including the title win over Eric Kelly in February.
They headline ONE FC Rise to Power on May 31 from the SM Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines. To watch the show, it’s available for purchase by clicking here.
