It’s Monday, so that means it’s time to kick off the week with another edition of the roundup. We’ll get you caught up on the top stories from over the weekend, including the aftermath of UFC on FX, the latest on Mark Hunt, and an injury to UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao. Here’s your news:
• Vitor Belfort’s knockout win has caused quite a stir, due in large part to his usage of TRT. But Belfort downplayed the issue after Saturday’s fight, saying he’s fighting for his family, his team, and his faith and is like a “T-Rex surviving in this new jungle”. Many fans are not on board with Vitor’s latest surge, but I for one am glad to see him performing well.
• Luke Rockhold was highly critical of Belfort’s TRT regimen in the lead up to the fight but has been more reserved in the aftermath. “TRT had nothing to do with that kick” was his official statement following the loss. Rockhold is still a top UFC middleweight and I have no doubt this will only be a temporary setback.
• Hunt’s immigration woes have finally been resolved. He confirmed via Twitter that he’s received a visa and will fight Junior Dos Santos at UFC 160.
• Though it hasn’t yet been confirmed by the UFC, Barao has apparently suffered a foot injury and will likely be unable to fight at UFC 161. It’s not clear what the event’s future will be if the main event is indeed scratched.
