UFC On FX 8: Hacran Dias Vs. Nik Lentz

Hacran Dias vs. Nik Lentz

We’ve come to the main event for the prelims, as featherweights Hacran Dias (21-1-1) and Nik Lentz (23-5-2) look to continue a night filled with finishes and excellent fights. The referee will be Mario Yamasaki.

Round 1: The training partner of UFC champs Jose Aldo and Renan Barao, Dias, likely faces less skilled fighters in his actual bouts; that’s no knock on Lentz, just the training partners of Dias are ultra-talented. Dias fights off a takedown attempt of the Minnesota native. Using his left, Dias is finding his range and damaging Lentz at the same time. Lentz with a nice combo that includes a solid uppercut that lands. Lentz trying his best to wear on Dias, who switches and takes the back with a minute left.

Round 2: Dias upping the pressure this round, and Lentz quickly goes for a takedown. Dias seems to slip and fall, allowing Lentz a chance to grab hold of him and grind. A hook in for Lentz, who is working for an opening to secure a possible rear-naked choke with three-plus minutes to go. Dias moves to guard, allowing Lentz to land several elbows. Dias to his feet, as Lentz controls the head and is working for another takedown. Lentz trying to take the back, settles for being inside the guard. Dias has appeared to use the fence a couple times to keep his balance, so it will be interesting to see if the referee takes a point away. As close as this fight is, it could be the difference.

Dias is trying to strike, while Lentz is going for the takedown. Lentz pulls guard with a headlock, possible choke attempt, but Dias is able to get free and in the strong position with three minutes left. Dias trying to lock in an arm-in-triangle, but Lentz gets free. Back to the feet with a minute left, and these two have had an interesting war so far.
