Due to an injury sustained to his right foot, interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao is out of the UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland main event reports TATAME.
Barao was looking for his second title defense after stopping Michael McDonald earlier in the year. The champion was to meet Eddie Wineland.
The UFC has not made an official statement, but the question may likely come up after tonight’s UFC on FX 8 show.
UFC 161 is June 15 from the MTS Centre in Canada.
UPDATE: MMAjunkie.com’s John Morgan, on hand in Brazil at the UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Rockhold event, confirmed the report. He added that Barao’s exit is not 100-percent, and that no replacement plans are in place yet.
