Within a few years, the soon to be 40-year-old Marcus Davis will be heading towards retirement. Before the lightweight is done, he has a chance to hold Bellator gold as he enters a Season 9 tournament in the fall.
“I’d like a crack at [lightweight champion Michael Chandler] and see what happens and then maybe a year or two after that, hang my hat up in Bellator and finish up my career with them,” said Davis to MMA Weekly.
Following a five year stint for the UFC, Davis joined the MFC and later fought on a few Indy shows before signing with Bellator.
At Bellator 93, an accidental knee to the groin on Waachiim Spiritwolf resulted in a no contest. Bellator officials haven’t revealed the brackets for Season 9, which is set for September.
