WSOF Matchmaker Ali Abdel-Aziz Not Handing Championships Out

World Series of Fighting (WSOF) matchmaker Ali Abdel-Aziz has the job of finding fights that the fans want to see. The promotion just made it known that a four person middleweight tournament is set, with the winner becoming the inaugural champion.

Some have pushed for Abdel-Aziz and WSOF president Ray Sefo to simply name a champion. That wasn’t how the two do business.

“Me and Ray [Sefo] are always communicating about when we’re going to start having our title fights,” said Abdel-Aziz to Bloody Elbow. “Our titles will have to mean something. If we just start giving people belts right now, they won’t mean very much to the athletes.”

Jesse Taylor, Dave Branch, Danilo Villefort and Elvis Mutapcic take part in the tournament. One semifinal fight is set for the August card and the other in September.

There has been no final decision on any other belts being introduced.
