Georges St-Pierre continues to train with former boxer Freddie Roach and apparently the welterweight champion has already figured out Johny Hendricks. Roach sees Hendricks as no more than a striker who will crumble at the wrestling game.
“We got the gameplan pretty much down already,” said Roach on Fight Hub TV. “We’re working on it. He’s always looking for that big shot. He’s a veteran wrestler, of course, a good wrestler, but he doesn’t even like to wrestle. He depends on that big left hand. He doesn’t even want to go to the ground too much. He’s not real difficult to figure out.”
Hendricks doesn’t go to the ground often, partially because he finishes fights with one shot in the first round. He recently took a decision over former interim champion Carlos Condit for the title shot.
St-Pierre has defended his belt twice since an ACL injury that put him on the shelf for 18 months.
Their date hasn’t been confirmed, but Hendricks is looking at August.
