When Nick Newell opted to not sign a contract to continue fighting for Xtreme Fighting Championship (XFC), the promotion had no choice but to strip him of their lightweight title. Now a free agent, Newell said he’s received offers from every promotion except one. The one is the UFC, the place Newell has been looking to land for a while.
“Everyone but the UFC,” said Newell on The MMA Hour. “I’m getting offers from a lot of different leagues.”
Newell posts an impressive 9-0 record with eight round one stoppages. He defeated former Bellator competitor Eric Reynolds in December. Take into account a portion of his arm is missing, including his entire left hand, and it makes everything a little more remarkable.
One of the major reasons Newell left the XFC was because he wants fights with veterans and established guys at this point in his career.
There has been no confirmation about what’s next for Newell.
