Pat Healy, Ronda Rousey, Wanderlei Silva: The Morning News Roundup – 5.15.13

It’s time for the Wednesday edition of the roundup, and we’ve got a lot of good stuff for you to check out. Today’s top stories: Pat Healy makes a costly mistake, Ronda Rousey works on her boxing, and Wanderlei Silva shares some harsh words with Chael Sonnen. We’ve also got the scoop on Brandon Vera and his return to the UFC heavyweight division. Here’s your news:

• Healy has failed his post-UFC 159 drug test, reportedly testing positive for marijuana. Not only has his victory over Jim Miller been overturned, Healy must also repay the $130,000 in bonuses that he earned for the fight. Ouch!

• Check out this cool montage of Rousey sparring with champion boxer Vic Darchinyan. Ronda hasn’t really needed much striking in her career thus far, thanks to her world-class Judo, but rounding out your game is never a bad thing.

• Wanderlei says he hasn’t been offered a contract to fight Sonnen but that he “wants to hurt” the former two-division UFC title contender. Chael responded on UFC Tonight with a true Sonnen-esque quip, but it looks like he’s going to have his hands full if the Silva fight materializes.

• Vera has been slated to fight at UFC 164 in Milwaukee against Ben Rothwell. “The Truth” hasn’t fought since his closely-contested loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and his last fight at heavyweight was in 2008. But a win over Rothwell would give Vera a foothold to on the heavyweight ladder.
