Always rearing to go with his pink fighting trunks, Phil Davis possesses an 11-1 record. The only person to defeat the NCAA wrestling star was former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans in title eliminator bout. Davis looks back at his loss and realizes he wasn’t 100 percent committed.
“If you are not 100 percent brilliant, you cannot beat a guy like him,” said Davis to TATAME. “It’s a guy with many skills and is very confident because he’s been doing this a long time. At that point in my career I did not have much time or experience to beat him.”
Davis just took a decision win against Vinny Magalhaes at UFC 159. It was his second straight win since the loss to Evans.
Evans, who has now lost two in a row, takes on Dan Henderson at UFC 161 on June 15. It comes from the MTS Centre in Canada.
Davis’ next move isn’t clear.
