UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez owns a first round TKO victory over Antonio Silva from last year. So, does that mean he expects to just see “Bigfoot” wilt when they meet next Saturday at UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2? Not a chance.
“This is a whole new fight,” said Velasquez, during a conference call on Tuesday. “We saw what ‘Bigfoot’ can do in his past two fights. I can’t take him lightly. He is a tough competitor and has dangerous stuff in the Octagon.
“I don’t see this as anything less than a grueling fight. That’s what I’m expecting.”
Velasquez (11-1) is a two-time UFC heavyweight champion, but he lost the belt to Junior dos Santos in his first title defense.
“To me, (defending the belt) is the most important thing,” he said. “To defend it, to hold on to it, this is the position I want to be in. I have to go out there and perform.”
