Nate Diaz spoke about a move to welterweight before he even lost to Josh Thomson in a lightweight bout. Diaz has shown interest in a possible rematch, but Thomson was quick to point out that Diaz might have missed weight. At the weigh-ins, Diaz just made it by stripping off his boxers.
“Nate, you didn’t make the weight, so how are you going to make the weight when we fight again,” said Thomson on BJPENN.com Radio. “We all let it slide because it was a huge fight, but you didn’t make the weight and you still lost. So unless you plan on fighting me a 170 then I’m not really interested.”
When watching the weigh-in video, it shows officials debating the result. Eventually, Diaz was allowed to come in at the limit of 157 pounds.
In his UFC return, Thomson finished Diaz in the second round to take Knockout of the Night.
There is no return date for either fighter.
