Eddie Wineland looks to prove all the doubters wrong, by winning the interim UFC bantamweight title. He’ll need to beat one of the best in the division when he challenges Renan Barao at UFC 161.
“I want to prove that I’m the best in the world,” said Wineland to MMA Junkie. “In my mind, if I come on my ‘A’ game, nobody’s beating me. In my mind, I’m No. 1 and that’s what I’m here to show.”
Last year, Wineland knocked out Scott Jorgensen then took a split-decision to Brad Pickett for his current spot.
Barao has 30 straight wins with five coming out of the UFC. He submitted Michael McDonald earlier in the year to defend the interim title.
They headline UFC 161 on June 15. It comes from the MTS Centre in Canada.
