For a time, Junior dos Santos was the king of the UFC heavyweight division with his belt that he possessed for over a year. That has since ended with Cain Velasquez reclaiming his gold, but Santos knows a win over Mark Hunt places him in the title spot once again.
“I can knock anyone out and I’m going to knock this guy out,” said Santos to UFC.com. “He’s very tough. He keeps trying until he knocks the guys out so he’s really dangerous. I’m going to stop him. It’s over for him. Now he’s going to lose.”
Hunt kind of fell on deaf ears after looking like he reached his peak during his PRIDE years. That changed when he broke Stefan Struve’s jaw earlier this year for his fourth consecutive UFC win.
Santos has just one other defeat out of 17 fights and often lets his hands take care of business.
They are co-main event of UFC 160 later this month from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. They fight May 25 out of Las Vegas, NV.
