Still healing from his knee surgery after a successful UFC debut, Gegard Mousasi is stuck if he should stay at light heavyweight or drop to middleweight. Whichever division leads to a quick title shot is where Mousasi is headed.
“If the UFC says come fight at 205 and if you win two or three times, we’ll give you a title shot,” said Mousasi on MMA Junkie Radio. “If they say 185, because I was also middleweight champ, maybe win one fight and maybe I can be a contender. Whatever is the fastest way to the belt.”
It’s not like gold is a rarity to Mousasi. Out of DREAM, he was the first and only middleweight and light heavyweight champion. He held Strikeforce’s light heavyweight title for a short time and was Cage Warriors middleweight champion. Mousasi is pretty familiar with the responsibility of being champion.
Mousasi thinks November or December will be his return inside the Octagon. At what weight, the fans will know soon enough.
