The first two Bellator shows for the 2013 Summer Series will see the promotion air on a Wednesday, unlike their past season which took place on a Thursday. Bellator debuted on Spike TV in January and aired a live card at 10 p.m. ET, upon the conclusion of TNA Wrestling.
The remainder of the Summer Series shows hasn’t been confirmed with dates. Spike TV officials have said it was too early to determine if Wednesday would become a permanent spot for Season 9, which starts in September.
“We haven’t made any decision about moving it off Thursday,” said a Spike TV official to MMA Junkie. “We’ll take a look at the time slot for September down the road, but right now, this is a change for the summer.”
The upcoming Summer Series features a four person tournament in the light heavyweight, heavyweight and featherweight classes.
Bellator’s first season on Spike TV drew an average audience of 861,000 viewers. The season before on MTV2 did 162,000 viewers.
