Chris Camozzi requested a big name fight out of the UFC and was surprised when he got a call to meet Ronaldo Souza with two weeks until UFC on FX 8.
“I’ve been begging for it, so even with short notice, I don’t mind,” said Camozzi on MMA Junkie Radio. “If you ask for something, you’ve got to be ready to take it.”
At UFC 158 in the middle of March, Camozzi took his fourth straight UFC win with a decision over Nick Ring.
Souza was to have met Constantinos Philippou, but he pulled out with an injury. Souza is a former Strikeforce middleweight champion, who makes his UFC debut.
They are the co-main event of the May 18 card, from Brazil’s Arena Jaraguá.
