Brian Bowles: Fighter Depression Results From Not Competing

Since November 2011, Brian Bowles has had to watch from the outside of the Octagon due to nagging injuries. That changes later this month as Bowles returns, but not without learning the difficulties about being away.

“I guess it’s like you get depressed because you’re a fighter and you’re not fighting, you’re not making money, you’re not doing interviews, you’re not doing anything,” said Bowles on The MMA Hour. “But as soon as I got to training hard again, I realized how much I loved it, and this is what I want to do.”

He returns against George Roop, who looks for his second win since returning to bantamweight.

Bowles has only lost to Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber.

They are set for UFC 160 on May 25. It comes from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
