Anderson Silva, Georges St. Pierre, Ronda Rousey: The Morning News Roundup – 5.7.13

Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of the Roundup, ladies and gents. We’ve got a gaggle of good stories in store for you today. Anderson Silva gets punched in the wallet, Georges St. Pierre teaches us “The Way of the Fight”, and Ronda Rousey’s meteoric rise to MMA stardom continues its ascent. And we’ve got some cool footage of a teaching seminar in Russia with none other than the great Fedor Emelianenko. Here goes:

• Anderson has reportedly been fined $50,000 for skipping an all-day media event, and though Dana White is understandably upset, I can’t help but feel a little sympathetic toward Silva’s situation. When you’ve got 10 UFC title defenses to your credit, what else is really left to say? (Silva is scheduled to defend the UFC middleweight title against Chris Weidman on July 6th.)

• GSP has a new book out and it’s now a New York Times Best Seller. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but it’s on my short list. There’s also a Kindle edition.

• Rousey can add a few more awards to her showroom, having been named Business Insider’s “50 Women Who Are Changing The World” and Maxim’s “Hot 100”. Okay, let’s be honest, one of those is slightly more prestigious than the other. But Business Insider is still a really popular and well-read publication. :)

• This Fedor training seminar appears to be from back in February, although the footage was just recently released by M-1. I wish there was some way for Fedor to have a bigger US presence, but it’s good to see him staying active in the sport nonetheless.
