Marloes Coenen gets a chance to avenge her loss to Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and thinks that steroids won’t be an issue. In 2010, Santos retained her Strikeforce title with a third round TKO over Coenen.
Coenen believes that Santos only won their first match because of steroids, something that will not play a factor the second time around as the former champion is being closely monitored following a suspension for banned substances.
“She looks more feminine now and I also think her strength is less,” said Coenen to BJPENN.com. “I already thought she was on something when I was fighting her for the first time. When I was actually in the cage I felt her power and was like ‘oh my god I never been hit this hard in my whole life.’ This time I don’t think she’s on the stuff anymore.”
Since that loss, Coenen has won four. She’s submitted Sarah Kaufman and Liz Carmouche under the Strikeforce name. Santos just returned from her yearlong suspension, and then some, to defeat Fiona Muxlow with ease.
The two will headline Invicta FC 6 from the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, MO.
