Vinny Magalhaes earned himself a fight with Top-10 light heavyweight Phil Davis by putting himself out there as an opponent – and continuing to talk Davis into taking the fight.
While Magalhaes was unsuccessful vs. “Mr. Wonderful” last month, he may have gotten himself into another quick fight.
Anthony Perosh told MMA Kanvas recently that he wants Magalhaes, and he wants to face him in Brazil at UFC 163: Aldo vs. Pettis in August.
“Vinny was calling me out when he was trying to get into the UFC,” Perosh said. “He wanted me as his first match, but it didn’t make any sense because I was on a three-fight win streak back then. Now, it makes sense. He’s coming off a loss, I’m coming off a loss; it makes sense for us to fight.”
Perosh is rehabbing from a nasty broken toe – much like the one Jon Jones suffered recently, but actually fractured – from a training injury last December.
The Australian even made it clear he told UFC officials he had no issues facing Magalhaes in Brazil, in front of his home crowd, adding, “I’d love to fight him on his home turf. You’d have two BJJ black belts fighting in Brazil.”
