Mark Munoz Career Low Point

Mark Munoz knew there was something wrong with his foot, but couldn’t pull out of his July 2012 UFC on FUEL TV main event. The middleweight dropped an easy second round knockout to the future No. 1 contender Chris Weidman.

“So then when I lost and in the fashion that I lost, that was the low point right there,” said Munoz on MMA Junkie Radio. “After that it took me about a week to say, ‘What are you doing? Dust off the cobwebs, just stop thinking about it and move on.'”

When Munoz’s doctor informed him that he broke his fourth and fifth metatarsal, “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” knew he was facing a year of recovery.

“That was the straw that broke the camel’s back right there,” said Munoz.

It will be five days from an entire year when Munoz returns against Tim Boetsch. They fight at UFC 162 on July 6 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
