Ricardo Lamas knows he’s closing in on a featherweight title shot and a dominate performance against Chan Sung Jung could be the determining factor.
“I think I have to finish him to really impress the UFC,” said Lamas to Bleacher Report. “I’m always looking to finish, but this is my chance to make a huge statement. I’m working harder than I ever have before, and people are going to see a caged animal when I step in there.”
Following a 4-2 run for the WEC, Lamas joined the UFC when they closed. He’s undefeated in the UFC with four wins and three stoppages. He has notable wins over Cub Swanson and Erik Koch.
Lamas vs. Jung are on the main card of UFC 162, which comes from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. That’s July 6 and is headlined with middleweight champion Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman.
