Cody McKenzie left UFC 159 with a decision win over Leonard Garcia, though he wasn’t pleased with how the outcome came about.
“I wasn’t too entertained with my own performance,” said McKenzie on MMA Fighting. “I heard a lot of booing. I’m usually a more entertaining competitor. I just couldn’t catch him, choke him. He’s a real scrappy veteran.”
It was McKenzie’s first UFC win since becoming a bantamweight over the summer. He began his UFC career with Submission of the Night and Fight of the Night honors.
They were to meet in December, but McKenzie needed to pullout due to a back injury. He was replaced with Max Holloway who took a split-decision win to Garcia.
Garcia’s UFC future looks bleak with five straight losses for the promotion.
