Former Strikeforce champion Dan Henderson didn’t feel the stoppage in this past Saturday’s UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen main event was correct.
After a third successful takedown, Jon Jones landed several uncontested shots to Chael Sonnen. As Sonnen started to cover up, the referee stepped in, as “Bones” earned a fifth title defense.
Henderson, who was scheduled to face Jones last year before an injury, wrote on Twitter “Quick stoppage especially for a title fight.”
As one of the legends of MMA, “Hendo” has been involved in several major championship bouts. He’s fought for the UFC title in his career, but was recently defeated by Lyoto Machida.
Sonnen did say after the fight that he agreed with the referee’s decision to end it.
