Jim Miller vs. Pat Healy

We kick-start the pay-per-view portion of tonight with the lightweight battle between warriors Jim Miller (22-4) and Pat Healy (29-16). In charge of the action will be Herb Dean.

Round 1: Healy catches Miller with a quick counter right off the bat, taking the center of the Octagon. Inside leg kick by Miller knocks Healy down for a brief moment, while following up with a solid straight left. They tie up, and Healy lands an elbow. Two more lefts land by Miller, and he slams Healy to the mat. Healy, though, owns 15 submission wins, and is very capable of fighting off his back. Miller, now, has the arm of Healy locked up, but is unable to secure the armbar. Great exchange on the ground by these two. Powerful inside leg kick by Miller lands, and Healy scores a double-leg takedown. Healy takes the back and lands several punches in the process. Miller spins out and drops successive elbows to conclude the round.

Round 2: That was very close to being called, as Miller busted open the right eye of Healy at the conclusion of the opening round. Miller targets the eye of Healy right off the bat, landing a straight left. Trip takedown from Healy out of the clinch, but Miller gets right back up. Another takedown by Healy, and Miller’s face is busted open via some nice strikes. Healy hammering down with several uncontested blows, including a huge right. Healy takes the back with just over a minute left, but is unable to get it. Healy, though, remains in mount until Miller slips out.

Round 3: Another good scramble, and Healy goes to work inside the clinch with knees to the body. Miller with another powerful inside leg kick, and Healy lands a big right followed by a knee that appeared to be low. The ref didn’t see it, and action continues on. Healy on top with a takedown, hammering more elbows to the face and possibly securing this fight with a strong round. Miller trying to lock up a high guard, but Healy’s length has caused him trouble all fight long. Healy has an opening and continues to attack with two minutes left, beating on Miller’s head and also searching for submissions. Healy with a rear-naked choke and Miller is out. This one is all over, and what an incredible win for Healy.
