With a new addition to his family, Roy Nelson has mentally changed how he fights thanks to the help of his 5 month old child.
“I think it gives me more of a relaxed state of mind,” said Nelson to MMA fighting. “You’re not as intense, but it makes you more ferrous. You have to go out there as the lion to feed the family.”
Nelson makes his first appearance of the year later today against Cheick Kongo at UFC 159.
In the last year, Nelson has taken two first round stoppages. Kongo went 1-1 last year, getting the decision over Shawn Jordan in July.
The heavyweights are a go for the main card which airs on pay-per-view. It’s the promotion’s return the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. FightLine will be there with the play-by-play and news conference to follow.
