Former UFC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen has no plans to return to 185 pounds after this weekend, even if he is unsuccessful in toppling UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
The two will meet at UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen on pay-per-view from Newark, New Jersey.
“I don’t want to cut back to 185,” said Sonnen, during a recent appearance on The Opie and Anthony Show. “I will go back to 185 if I need to, but I don’t want to. I always wanted to be at 205.”
Sonnen twice fought UFC champion Anderson Silva, but was unable to secure gold. He will be competing at 205 for the first time since 2005.
