Kurt Holobaugh Took Experience Lesson From Pat Healy Loss

Kurt Holobaugh filled in for an injured Gilbert Melendez on the final Strikeforce card and on short notice. The outcome saw Holobaugh drop a decision to seasoned veteran Pat Healy.

“What lost me the fight was that I made a lot of mistakes,” said Holobaugh on Verbal Submission. “I wasn’t ready for that high level of a fight and doing previous things that would have worked on lower level opponents didn’t work on him. Just by that fight, I think I learned 10 times as much as what I knew going into it.”

Prior to the loss, Holobaugh was undefeated with nine wins and was making his Strikeforce debut after several appearances for XFC.

Healy was 28-16 heading into that January card and had taken five straight wins for the promotion.

Both fighters are set for Saturday’s UFC 159. It’s going to be Holobaugh vs. Steven Siler and Healy vs. Jim Miller. The show comes from Newark, NJ’s Prudential Center.
